Boys conference races tighten up

Wednesday September 25, 2013

The conference races are closing in as the 2013 season winds down. AlmanacSports takes a look at the teams vying for a title. As a side note, sectional draws are Friday!

SIAC

#3AA Memorial clinched at least a share of the SIAC with a 14-0 drubbing of Bosse.

Castle and North are still in the race, but don't expect the Tigers to falter in the home stretch

Eliminated: Mater Dei, Central, Harrison, Reitz, Bosse

Evansville City

Memorial has clinched the city title

North can still grab a share of the city title if Harrison upsets the Tigers. Regardless, the Huskies had their chance and couldn't do it, so they can't expect too much.

Eliminated: Bosse, Central, Harrison, Mater Dei, Reitz

Big 8

After cracking the Top 20, #18AA Jasper is the favorite to take the the Big 8. A showdown tomorrow night with Washington at Washington could spell trouble as these two rivals fight for the conference title.

Eliminated: Mt Vernon, Boonville, Mt Carmel, Lincoln, Princeton

PAC

#8A Gibson Southern and Forest Park meet at the end of the season with the PAC title on the line. A tie last year ended up causing the two to share the crown, but don't expect these rivals to share nicely.

Eliminated: Heritage Hills, North Posey, South Spencer, Tell City, Pike Central

Blue Chip

After an early slip up, #12A Washington Catholic is back in the driver's seat to repeat as Blue Chip champs.

North Knox, which started hot this season, has struggled lately but a season finale with Catholic could make things interesting.

Several missing results make the Blue Chip a mystery. Please send us your scores!

Eliminated: Shoals
