ALMANAC-8 Soccer Poll
Wednesday October 1, 2014
The Almanac-8 ranks the top eight teams in the Southwestern Indiana area. The poll is released twice a month during the soccer season.
||After a top-state ranking (later taken by a loss to Carmel) and SIAC and city hardware, what's left for Memorial to prove?
||It would be exciting to see the Wildcats rematch their only loss against Memorial. Can the Big 8 champs keep it
going headed into one of the toughest sectionals in the state?
||(#5A) Gibson Southern
||With another PAC title for the Titans, they can now focus on getting past a weaker Mater Dei and win the sectional.
||A possible loss of focus for the Huskies (2-4 in the last six games), but with three of those defeats against ranked
teams they'll be battle ready for the tournament.
||(#16A) Washington Catholic
||The Cardinals have got to feel good about heading into the post-season. One more victory over Blue Chip rivals North
Knox and they can celebrate a fifth straight conference title.
||After a drubbing from their conference rivals Jasper, the Hatchets have to improve to make it out of sectionals.
||The Knights are crawling out of their hole, but rematching Jasper in the opening round of the tourney may
end their chance of returning to regionals.
||The Jeeps open against Wash. Catholic, so they'll have a chance to get revenge on their Blue Chip rivals.
||The Rebels are on a hot streak winning five in a row, and they're 2nd in the PAC. Their season finale against
conference opponents Heritage Hills could likely preview a sectional showdown.
