Girls playoff preview
Evansville (Reitz) Sectional #32
#15AA Memorial, looking to defend its title and return to semi-state, opens agains Mount Vernon.
#20AA Reitz, who defeated the Tigers this season, will likely face them in the sectional championship, but the Panthers must get
past other SIAC foes first.
AlmanacSports prediction: Memorial over Reitz
Castle Sectional #31
Castle hosts Jasper in what should be a competitive opening match, but the Knights will have to find another level to repeat as sectional
champs. The strongest team is the SIAC and city champs North ranked #9AA, favored to win. The Huskies defeated Washington 2-1 a few
weeks back, but the Hatchets will have nothing to lose should they advance past Boonville.
AlmanacSports prediction: North over Jasper
Heritage Hills Sectional #46
Hosts Heritage Hills will be the favorites, undefeated and ranked #3 in Class A.
Forest Park, who upset the Patriots last year, would love to return to regionals in their stead.
AlmanacSports prediction: Heritage Hills over North Harrison
Sullivan Sectional #47
North Knox would love to repeat last year's success, but the Warriors will have a challenge ahead of them.
The strongest team locally is Pike Central. A close 2-1 defeat to perennial favorites Sullivan has the Chargers thinking of their first sectional crown.
AlmanacSports prediction: Pike Central over Sullivan
Princeton Sectional #48
#17A Gibson Southern begins its quest to return to the state finals, now with more experience. The Titans open against Wood Memorial, whom they
dispatched by double digits earlier this year. #4A Mater Dei stands in their way though. The Wildcats were upset last year by Gibson Southern and
would love nothing more than to get revenge. A 0-0 tie between the two last month hints we could be in for quite a showdown during Saturday's
championship match. One other team worth mentioning is North Posey who could be a dark horse in this bracket.
AlmanacSports prediction: Mater Dei over Gibson Southern
