Tournament Success Factor Historical Index: 1973-2014

Friday June 19, 2015

The IHSAA recently implemented a Tournament Success Factor for every sport. During each two-year classification cycle, schools receive points for winning a postseason tournament championship (one for sectional, two for regional, three for semi-state or four for state). If that school reaches six points or more, they are automatically bumped up to the next class for the following two-year cycle.

While the IHSAA uses a two-year snapshot, we wondered what the results would be if we applied this same formula to the entire history of the IHSAA football playoffs, from 1973 to present. Well, we did just that, and we'd like to share it with you.

Keep in mind that we have no affiliation with the IHSAA, we're just big fans of what they do to help promote high school football. Without further adieu, AlmanacSports.com would like to present the "Indiana High School Football Tournament Success Factor Historical Index."
